Adoption of Kearly Amanda

February 9, 2012

As we entered into our adoption journey for Kearly we were so grateful to God for the great joy of learning patience, amazing grace, and how to completely rely on Him for all things. We began the  first leg of our journey in Vietnam back in January 2007. After the doors closed between the two countries to foreign adoptions, eighteen months later, we found our way across Asia into Nepal for a brief time. God allowed us to play a small part of a much bigger plan that he had for a young man named Cham, a father of five, who considered giving up his youngest daughter for adoption. After bringing his daughter in for a medical checkup, he heard the Gospel, committed his life to Christ, has remained with his family, and now is on fire for the Lord. Praise God!

We then found ourselves heading north, to Russia, where we were working with an agency for almost two years. Doors began to close as we continued to pray and seek God’s direction to grow our family. Then in May of 2011, while attending an event to support Pete and Jen Emery who will be moving to Quito, Ecuador to serve as missionaries with Extreme Response (see additional information on our blog site about their journey), God allowed us to witness an unfolding of His divine plan for us to bring home a beautiful little girl that he had specifically chosen for our family.

Kearly, who turned 4 in April of this year, is a beautiful, healthy and happy little girl.   She lived in an orphanage in Riobamba, Ecuador called “The Ark” and had been raised under the watchful and loving care of Ron and Glenda Allan, Canadian Christian missionaries from British Columbia whom God called to Ecuador in 1994. Suffice it to say, that next month was the five year anniversary of beginning our adoption journey. All along, Linda and I knew that one day we would hold Kearly and realize that “this is why God had us wait the entire time!”
